Kauai Part 1-Waimea Plantation Cottages

The cottages were built in the late 1800's and early 1900's for the plantation supervisors. As the sugar cane plantations on the island closed, they were moved to this location.
Our favorite spot was this hammock!

I spent lots of time studying here for my Bible class on Daniel and Revelation.
We ate all our meals on the porch and never sat in the living room except to play Sequence!
Our quaint bathroom. You can look out the window from the shower to my right.
We enjoyed dinner at the Grove Cafe on the grounds. Lovely!

Sunset from the hammock

The banyan tree at the plantation has so many of these roots. For years they dangle down, free in the air, and then they root themselves and become another "trunk."

When Hurricane Iliki came in 1992, all of the caged chickens blew all over the island and started breeding. Thus you see chickens at the airport, walking along the highway, at the beach, etc. There were 8-10 who roosted in the tree outside our cottage. Fortunately, I could take my sound processors off and not hear them crow each morning. :)
The view from our porch. Awwwwwwwwwwwww!
